Bengaluru, Sep 28: Pro-Kannada groups have issued an open challenge to the government by calling for a statewide bandh on Friday. They have challenged the authorities to take action against their activists as they fear that there will be a massive protest across Karnataka over the sharing of Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu.
Pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj stressed the seriousness of the upcoming all-Karnataka bandh, saying, “Friday’s all-Karnataka bandh will be a serious protest.”
The bandh call comes after recent reports of police intervention against a group of protesters during Tuesday’s bandh, which was centered on the Cauvery water-sharing issue. “Around 2,000 organizations will participate in the protest,” revealed Vatal Nagaraj, former MLA and president of the pro-Kannada federation, Kannada Chaluvali.
