The Election Commission has revised the voting process for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections starting from April 19 for the Kashmiri diaspora voters. An order issued by the Election Commission on Thursday said that all 22 polling stations will be mapped into camps/zones to ensure at least one special polling station in each region, including 21 polling stations in Jammu and Udhampur. The order states that the certificate attached to Form-M is verified by the Gazetted Officer, but self-verification of these forms may be sufficient to avoid the trouble of seeking out the Gazetted Officers to verify it. is These orders state that Kashmiri migrant voters living in camps and zones in Jammu and Udhampur will no longer need to fill the form. Instead they will be able to go to special polling stations in their pre-registered areas and be mapped there. Voters will be required to produce EPIC or any such alternative document as may be prescribed by the Commission for identification at special polling stations.
The Election Commission has also simplified the process of filing forms for expatriates living outside Jammu and Udhampur. Whether they are living in the migrant capital Delhi or in the rest of the country. But it is mandatory for them to fill this form as soon as possible.
