On Monday, a chilling wave swept through Jaipur as bomb threats targeted thirty-five schools, coinciding ominously with the 16th anniversary of the devastating serial bomb blasts that scarred the city. The principals of prestigious institutions like DPS and MPS were shaken when threatening emails landed in their inboxes, warning of explosives planted within their school premises. With urgency, all schools initiated evacuations.
Responding swiftly, police teams and bomb disposal squads mobilized to each location, ensuring the safety of students and staff. As investigations commenced, authorities scrambled to trace the origins of these menacing emails.
The apprehension escalated following similar threats received by 12 airports nationwide, including Jaipur’s. The specter of terror seemed to loom large once more over the city.
At Vidyaashram School, fears materialized as teams descended on the premises at 9:30 a.m., swiftly evacuating all occupants to safety. Similarly, MPS School in Tilak Nagar saw a rapid response from law enforcement, ensuring the evacuation of its staff, albeit with relief that the student body was already on summer break.
Amidst the chaos, officials pondered the sinister timing of these threats, occurring precisely on the anniversary of Jaipur’s tragic past. The haunting memories of the coordinated bomb blasts in 2008, claiming numerous lives and injuring hundreds, lingered heavily in the air.
Rajasthan DGP U.R. Sahu assured the public, stating, “As of now, 35 schools in Jaipur have reported receiving the threatening emails. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly since early morning, with no reports of any actual explosives found thus far. Cyber teams are diligently tracing the source of these emails, keeping the government informed every step of the way. There’s no need for panic.”
As the investigation continued, the city remained on edge, grappling with the unsettling possibility of history repeating itself.
