Exuding supreme confidence, the national opposition INDIA bloc partners asserted that the ‘achhe din’ promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will finally arrive on June 4, the vote-counting day, when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be voted out, allowing the Opposition government to take office. This statement was made on Saturday.
Alliance leaders claimed they would secure at least 46 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, accusing the PM of diverting attention from the nation’s real issues with blatant lies.
Key figures from the INDIA bloc, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Shiv Sena (UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray, and Nationalist Congress Party (SP) President Sharad Pawar, fielded various media questions ahead of the fifth and final phase of polling for 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state, scheduled for May 20.
“In 2014, the PM promised ‘achhe din’. On June 4, the ‘achche din’ will truly begin when the INDIA bloc government takes office. The BJP has spent years defaming and looting the state, relocating businesses from Maharashtra-Mumbai to Gujarat,” said Thackeray.
Thackeray described it as unprecedented that the PM campaigned for an extra-constitutional government while a court verdict is pending.
Kharge mentioned that the state’s mood is very favorable for the Opposition, with ground reports indicating the INDIA-MVA would win at least 46 of the 48 seats.
Responding to BJP and PM Modi’s claims that Congress would demolish the Lord Ram Temple if elected, Kharge said, “Bulldozing is BJP’s style, not ours. Such statements are meant to confuse and incite people. The Election Commission of India must act against these inflammatory speeches. We will adhere to the Constitution and ensure everything remains secure,” Kharge declared.
When asked about Veer Savarkar, Pawar stated that Savarkar is not a poll issue, accusing the BJP and the PM of using it to create confusion.
Referring to BJP President J. P. Nadda’s media interview, Thackeray highlighted that Modi recently called Shiv Sena (UBT) a ‘nakli Sena’ and ‘nakli santaan’, suggesting that tomorrow, they might label the RSS as ‘nakli’ and ban it.
“The BJP claims it no longer needs the RSS. Now, even in its 100th year, the RSS is in danger,” Thackeray noted.
