Cloud bursting has started in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh during monsoon. A cloudburst near the hydro project in Samaj Khad early morning on Thursday caused massive destruction in the area.
NDRF, Rampur sub divisional administration, Home Guard, CISF and medical team reached the spot as soon as the cloudburst was reported. 36 people have gone missing due to flash floods caused by bursting of clouds in Samaj Khad in Jhakdi.
It is being told that an employee of the power project has also gone missing in this accident. At present, the missing people are being searched for.
SDM Rampur Nishant Tomar said that according to the information received so far, flash floods occurred in the area due to cloudburst and 36 people are missing from the affected area. At the same time, the roads are also broken and closed due to this disaster. Rescue team members reached the spot after walking two kilometers for relief and rescue operations with equipment. The rescue team has started rescue operations.
Sub-Divisional Officer Nishant Tomar said that relief and rescue operations have been accelerated in the affected areas. Troops of ITBP and Special Home Guard are also being assisted in this rescue operation. Arrangements have also been made to send ambulances and other facilities to the affected areas.
Rampur SDM said that ITBP, Special Home Guard troops have also been included in the rescue team, which is united in the rescue operations. All basic facilities including ambulance have been deployed during the rescue operation. SDM Rampur Nishant Tomar said that a search operation is being conducted by the rescue team to find the missing people in the disaster. All possible efforts are being made to rescue and search for people.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu to Union Minister J.P. Nadda talked about the incident and took all the information. He has promised every possible help from the central government. Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and Union Minister J.P. Nadda spoke and directed all BJP workers to join the relief and rescue work.
The Meteorological Department has also warned of landslides and flash floods in highly sensitive areas of Shimla, Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan and Kinnaur districts.
Earlier on Wednesday late night in Rajwan village in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, one person was killed and more than 11 people are missing due to cloudburst.
