While addressing ‘Discussion with students on Exam 2024’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that along with studies, students should take good sleep and balanced diet and make themselves strong to bear the pressure. Because pressure keeps building in life and we have to resolve it by becoming powerful ourselves. The Prime Minister motivated the students for physical activity during the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’.
During the discussion, Denya, a student of Indian school in Oman, asked the first question to the Prime Minister. Arsh, a Class 12 student from Delhi, and other students asked the Prime Minister that social expectations create pressure and how can we get out of this pressure. Responding to this, the Prime Minister said that we ourselves create pressure, like we have to get up at this time in the morning, we have to solve so many questions, etc. We have to move forward gradually, we have to do more the next day than what we have done today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the parents of the students create another pressure by saying why did you keep sleeping, wake up early, why didn’t you do this, why didn’t you do that, don’t you know about the exam? Compare your child with his friends and his classmates to see how well he is doing. Third, pressure arises without any reason, due to lack of understanding. We consider something as a problem without any reason.
To solve these problems, the Prime Minister advised that the entire family, teachers and students will have to solve it together. Students alone cannot deal with these problems. To remove these things, there is a need for mutual discussion and coordination.
Some students and parents asked questions on the tension that has arisen due to mutual competition among students. Responding to this, the Prime Minister said that competition is also important in life. Without competition, life would become very uninspiring and consciousnessless. But whatever competition there is, it should not be of bad nature, rather it should be healthy competition. Sometimes in the family environment, the seeds of distorted competition are sown between two brothers or two sisters due to bad tendencies, which later on becomes a poisonous tree.
On competition with friends, the Prime Minister said that if your friend gets 90 marks out of 100, then only 10 marks are left for you. If your friend has written the exam for 100 marks, then you too have written the exam for 100 marks. You have to keep positive thinking and think how many marks you can be able to score out of 100 marks. Talented friends are a source of inspiration. You should never allow bad feelings to enter your mind.
The Prime Minister also requested parents not to compare their children with other students.
Teachers asked the Prime Minister questions related to motivating students. In response to this, the Prime Minister said that teachers do not have to focus only on the syllabus, but they have to connect with the students. Teachers should talk openly to the students, so that students will not feel stressed during the examination. The job of a teacher is not to do a job, rather the job of a teacher is to enrich lives.
The Prime Minister said that many students do not stop reading books on the day of examination, this increases the stress further. Therefore, students should go to the examination center with ease. One should take a deep breath and read the entire question paper with pleasure and decide which question to answer first. The Prime Minister said that the habit of writing has reduced among students, which is not appropriate. Students should practice writing regularly every day, so that they do not face any problem while writing in the examination.
