Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has emerged as one of India’s highest tax-paying celebrities for the financial year 2024-25, with a tax payment of ₹120 crore on earnings totaling ₹350 crore.
Bachchan’s diverse income streams include feature films, brand endorsements, and his long-standing role as the host of the television quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati” (KBC). Notably, his remuneration for KBC has seen a steady increase over the years, reportedly reaching ₹5 crore per episode in its 16th season, which concluded on March 11, 2025.
In comparison, other prominent figures in the entertainment industry have also made significant tax contributions. Shah Rukh Khan, who held the top spot last year with a tax payment of ₹92 crore, was surpassed by Bachchan’s 30% higher contribution this year. Additionally, Tamil cinema actor Thalapathy Vijay paid ₹80 crore, and Salman Khan contributed ₹75 crore in taxes for the same period.
At 82, Bachchan continues to be a dominant force in the industry. He recently starred in “Kalki 2898 AD,” portraying Ashwathama, and made his Tamil cinema debut in “Vettaiyan” alongside Rajinikanth. His enduring appeal and consistent work ethic have not only cemented his legacy but also underscore his significant contributions to the Indian entertainment sector.
