Mumbai, Oct 30: Renowned megastars Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have concluded the Mumbai schedule for their forthcoming movie ‘Thalaivar 170’, marking a significant reunion on the silver screen.
The production house, Lyca Productions, confirmed the completion of the Mumbai shoot for ‘Thalaivar 170’ on their social media handle. Alongside a behind-the-scenes image of the two icons, the studio expressed excitement about the reunion after 33 years, indicating that the film will be a double dose of legendary performances.
Earlier, Rajinikanth had shared a picture of himself with Amitabh Bachchan, expressing delight at collaborating once more with the iconic ‘Angry Young Man’ of Bollywood.
In his post, Rajinikanth joyfully announced, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s ‘Thalaivar 170’ directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!”
Amitabh Bachchan, in his social media updates, shared a behind-the-scenes picture of himself on the film set holding a magnifying glass, emphasizing the significant moment of returning to work after 33 years alongside the esteemed Rajinikanth.
Expressing his joy at reuniting with the Tamil megastar, Bachchan posted a black and white picture of the two icons and praised Rajinikanth, referring to him as the “GREATEST” and acknowledging the honor and privilege of working together again.
The two legends last collaborated in the Hindi film ‘Hum’, directed by Mukul Anand, back in 1991. This movie was a massive success and earned praise from critics and audiences, marking a significant event in the 1990s film scene.
Furthermore, ‘Hum’ played a pivotal role in shaping Rajinikanth’s classic ‘Baasha’ in 1995, as it incorporated several unused plot points from the original script of ‘Hum’.
The excitement surrounding their new project has sparked immense anticipation across India, with audiences eagerly anticipating the union of these two iconic figures on the big screen.
Apart from the stellar duo, the film will also feature Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. Set to be accompanied by music from Anirudh Ravichander, the movie is slated for a 2024 release.
