Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is making a highly anticipated return to Bollywood with the romantic comedy Abir Gulaal, co-starring Vaani Kapoor. According to reports, Khan was paid between ₹5 to ₹10 crore for this project, a significant increase from his usual fees of ₹2 crore per film in Pakistan and ₹15–20 lakh per television episode .
However, the film’s release in India faces uncertainty due to heightened tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Government sources have indicated that Abir Gulaal may not be released in Indian theaters . Additionally, two songs from the film, “Khudaya Ishq” and “Angrezi Rangrasiya,” have been removed from YouTube India .
Despite these challenges, Fawad Khan expressed his condolences for the victims of the Pahalgam attack, stating he was “deeply saddened” by the incident . His co-star Vaani Kapoor also shared her grief, describing herself as “numb” and “at a loss of words” .
Abir Gulaal, directed by Aarti S. Bagdi, was scheduled for release on May 9, 2025. The film’s future remains uncertain amid the current political climate.
