Tamil tinsel world superstar Vijay has formed his political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) to contest the 2026 assembly elections. Vijay has already registered his fan group as Vijay Makkal Ayyakam and it had contested the local body elections 2021, winning 115 seats.
Announcing his party, superstar Vijay said in a statement that his party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) will not contest the upcoming general elections, but his party will contest the 2026 assembly elections.
He said that our aim is to bring fundamental political changes necessary for the people. Therefore, our newly formed party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) will contest the 2026 assembly elections.
He said that on one hand the corruption prevailing in the administration and society of the state is troubling, on the other hand there is politics of division and hatred. In fact everyone is expecting a governance which is transparent, selfless and free from corruption.
Tamil superstar Vijay said that we need politics free from corruption and bias and such politics should be in line with the political traditions of the state and Tamil culture, which respects the Constitution of our country.
He said that party officials will be selected democratically and the party will always be ready to fight an all-out battle against corruption.
Vijay said that our party will start promoting its policies, party flag, its Tamil Nadu-centric ideology etc. among the people of TVK after the 2024 general elections.
He also said that politics is not another profession, rather it is a sacred service, which is done for the public. In politics he has seen the rise and fall of his superiors. Therefore he believes that victory will have no impact on him.
