Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhutan on Friday on a two-day visit to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss regional issues and will also meet King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck of Bhutan during the visit. Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobge warmly welcomed PM Modi at the airport.
Red carpet was also laid to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Regarding the two-day visit of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of External Affairs informed that PM Narendra Modi has started his official visit to Bhutan from 22-23 March. Bhutan PM warmly welcomed the Prime Minister at Paro Airport.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a state-of-the-art 150-bed Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Maternal and Child Hospital in Thimphu with the help of the Government of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan is in line with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and the Indian government’s exercise to emphasize the ‘neighbourhood first policy’.
On his X account, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote that I will participate in various programs during my visit to Bhutan with the aim of further strengthening India-Bhutan partnership. I am very much looking forward to the talks with His Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Majesty Druk Gyalpo IV and Prime Minister Tshering Tobge.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to pay a two-day visit to Bhutan on 21-22 March 2024, but a mutual decision was taken to postpone the visit due to bad weather conditions at Paro Airport on 21 March.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobge visited India from 14 to 18 March after assuming office in February 2024.
