Seoul, Aug 11 (PTI) Nearly 120 people across South Korea have been charged with posting death threats on various online sites following a recent spate of deadly knife attacks in Seoul’s metropolitan area, the Korean National Police Agency said on Friday. I have been arrested.
The KNPA said 119 suspects had been arrested for writing the threats as of 9 a.m. Friday, Yonhap news agency reported.
The KNPA’s death threats came to light after a 33-year-old man stabbed and killed a man near a subway station in Seoul on 21 July. and on August 3 vandalized a store in Seongnam, south of Seoul, killing one person.
The Korean National Police Agency said online murder threats have increased by 121 and 52 since Monday, with teenagers accounting for 52.3 percent of the 65 people caught so far.
Police said that people who write online murder threats will be punished severely.
