Beijing, October 17: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing. Wang Yi said during the meeting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. The third Belt and Road (BRI) International Cooperation Forum is also going to be organized soon. Benefit can be taken from this opportunity. Due to which there are possibilities of achieving international consensus on a wide scale. The co-construction of the “Belt and Road” will enter a new round of high-quality development.
On the “Belt and Road” initiative, Wang Yi said China appreciates President Vladimir Putin for giving high appraisal and support to the project and welcomes Russia to take part. So that cooperation can be done to promote common prosperity and development.
Responding to this, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia-China bilateral relations are extremely important to maintain the positive pace of development. Russia is ready to maintain close strategic communications with China. At the same time, Russia is fully prepared to further deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields. The “Belt and Road” initiative has also become an important platform for promoting international cooperation. Which involves active participation of all parties.
Joint construction of the “Belt and Road” will also promote mutually beneficial cooperation. Its impact will be more visible especially in Eurasia. President Putin is very eager to meet President Xi Jinping in China. Russian President Putin is also interested in participating in the summit. Apart from this, both sides carried out strategic coordination under multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS to strengthen mutual cooperation.
According to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Russia supports the rotating chairmanship of BRICS next year.
The Chinese and Russian foreign ministers also shared their views on the Palestine-Israel conflict.
Responding to the Palestine-Israel conflict, Wang Yi said China condemns all actions that cause harm to civilians. China opposes all actions that violate international law. The UN Security Council needs to take action on the Palestine-Israel conflict and major countries should also play an active role.
