New Delhi, November 12 (UITV) – First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s residence, lasted for about an hour. During this meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed trade, economic and political issues and emphasized on furthering cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi recently visited Russia, in which there was an in-depth discussion on further strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between India and Russia.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated the continuous efforts being made by both the countries to further strengthen the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership during the visit of First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov to India. Prime Minister Modi said that the joint efforts being made by the teams of both sides to enhance cooperation between the two countries will yield positive results in trade, energy, connectivity and other areas.
The Prime Minister also recalled his recent visit and meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which many important decisions were taken. Modi said that the continued cooperation between the two countries in the implementation of these decisions will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. He also assured to increase India’s cooperation towards Russia.
After this meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), “It was a great pleasure to meet Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov today. It was a pleasure to see that the teams of both sides are working together to implement the decisions taken during my recent visits and meetings with President Putin to further strengthen the India-Russia special and privileged strategic partnership.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that Prime Minister Modi appreciated the continued efforts being made by both the countries to further strengthen the special relations between Russia and India. He said that the ongoing cooperation between India and Russia will increase cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade, energy, connectivity and technology.
On November 12, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov and India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will co-chair the 25th session of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission, which will discuss trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation. This session is part of efforts to further strengthen the economic and cultural partnership between the two countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in the BRICS summit held in Kazan city of Russia in October 2024. In this conference, the Prime Minister addressed two sessions. Describing the summit as a success, Modi thanked Russian President Putin, the Russian government and its people for their welcome and hospitality.
This meeting and Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia make it clear that bilateral relations between India and Russia are progressing steadily and friendship and partnership between the two countries are getting new dimensions.
