Hyderabad, December 24 (UITV) – Actor Allu Arjun appeared before the police on Tuesday for questioning in the Sandhya Theater stampede case. In this case, the police had issued a notice to the actor on Monday and directed him to come to the police station for further questioning. During Allu Arjun’s visit to the police station, the police had made tight security arrangements and banned the movement of vehicles around the police station. The actor was accompanied by his father Allu Arvind and lawyer to the police station. His legal representatives were present at his residence till late Monday night.
The case started with a stampede at Sandhya Theater on December 4, when the premiere show of actor Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ was going on. A woman died and her son was seriously injured due to the stampede. After this incident, a case of culpable homicide was registered against the theater management, Allu Arjun and his team. The police had listed the actor as accused number 11 in this case.
On December 13, the police arrested Allu Arjun and produced him before a city court where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days. However, the actor was granted interim bail for four weeks by the Telangana High Court on the same day. Following this, Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda jail the very next day.
Recently, another notice was issued to Allu Arjun, directing him to appear at the police station once again for questioning. The notice comes at a time when there were reports that the police are planning to file a petition in the High Court to cancel the actor’s interim bail. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Sunday said that the police will seek legal opinion before taking any further action in the matter.
The police chief said that as part of the investigation into the case, CCTV footage was released to clarify the minute-to-minute sequence of events of the incident that took place at Sandhya Theatre. The police had collected a 10-minute video to give a clear account of the incident that took place on December 4. This video was prepared after analysing 1,000 video clippings.
The police also said that Allu Arjun will be questioned based on the video evidence and the statements made by him on December 21. On December 21, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in the Assembly criticised Allu Arjun for going to the theatre without police permission and conducting a “road show” despite a woman dying and her son getting injured in a stampede. The Chief Minister had made strong comments against the actor over the incident.
Just hours later, Allu Arjun had termed these allegations as “false” in a press conference. The actor denied the allegations levelled by the Chief Minister, saying that he neither went to the theatre without permission nor did he conduct any kind of road show. He clarified the entire situation from his side and called the allegations baseless.
The case gained momentum when the police decided to question Allu Arjun after a detailed investigation into the incident. The police had also ensured that no false information of any kind is spread and the case is investigated in a transparent manner.
The Sandhya theatre stampede case has caught the attention of not only the film industry but also the general public. The incident became a sad memory for the film lovers and now an intense police investigation is underway in the case.
