Union Home Minister Amit Shah will campaign for the important Ahmedabad East parliamentary constituency in Gujarat on Tuesday. Home Minister Amit Shah will campaign for BJP candidate Hasmukh Patel from Ahmedabad East seat at a public meeting at Naroda at 7 pm. Hasmukh Patel is in direct competition with Congress candidate Himmatsingh Patel. Himmat Singh Patel is MLA from Bapunagar.
Himmatsingh Patel had won the 2017 assembly elections, he has a lot of experience. However, two criminal cases are registered against him and he owes a total of Rs 19,01,006.
Earlier, Rohan Gupta was the Congress candidate from the Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha seat, but he left the Congress party and joined the BJP. Rohan Gupta, former national spokesperson of the Congress and member of the IT cell of the Congress, quit the Congress on March 19. Earlier he withdrew from the election race on March 12.
The Ahmedabad East constituency saw a voter turnout of 61.76 percent in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, with Congress candidate Geeta Patel winning by Hasmukh Patel by a margin of 4,34,330 votes.
