Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Delhi at a ceremony held at Raj Niwas in the national capital New Delhi on Saturday evening. Atishi is currently handling the responsibility of many departments including Finance, Education and PWD (Public Works Department).
With this, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will form the government in Delhi for the fourth consecutive time.
Officials said that Atishi will take oath as the Chief Minister at 4.30 pm and the Council of Ministers will also be sworn in. Along with Atishi, 5 cabinet ministers Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Mukesh Ahlawat, Imran Hussain will also take oath as cabinet ministers.
Gopal Rai, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Kailash Gehlot, Mukesh Ahlawat, Imran Hussain will be included in the new Council of Ministers announced by AAP. Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot, Saurabh Bhardwaj and Imran Hussain are ministers in the outgoing government led by Arvind Kejriwal.
As soon as she becomes the Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi will become the 17th woman Chief Minister of the country.
After Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi was elected the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party’s legislative party. When Atishi was elected the leader of the legislative party, Atishi staked claim to form the new government. She demanded the Lieutenant Governor to fix the date of swearing-in as Chief Minister. Atishi’s swearing-in ceremony will be organized on September 21 at 4:30 pm. On this occasion, five cabinet ministers will also take oath along with her to play an important role in shaping the direction and policies of the new government.
Apart from this, the Delhi government has decided to call a two-day assembly session on September 26 and 27 to prove Atishi’s majority.
On Friday evening, officials of the Lieutenant Governor’s office had informed that Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation has been accepted and Atishi has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Delhi by President Draupadi Murmu from the date of swearing-in.
He informed that the President has also approved the appointment of five ministers.
According to an AAP leader, the atmosphere in the party is not very good due to Kejriwal’s resignation and due to the delay in getting the date of oath taking approved, there was not much time for preparation, so the oath taking ceremony will be simple.
Let us tell you that on Sunday, Arvind Kejriwal had announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister. Kejriwal had said that until the people of Delhi give him a certificate of honesty, he will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair. After this announcement, Kejriwal met the LG and resigned from his post.
