New Delhi, December 19 (UITV)- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Sarangi got injured in Parliament on Thursday. He got injured after falling from the stairs of the Parliament House and was taken out on a wheelchair. He alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed him, due to which he fell and got injured. After this incident, a series of allegations and counter-allegations started between the two leaders and this matter became a topic of discussion in the Parliament.
Pratap Sarangi said, “I was standing on the stairs. Then Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP, due to which he fell on me. Due to the MP falling on me, I also fell and got injured.” He alleged that he fell and got injured due to the pushing done by Rahul Gandhi.
At the same time, Rahul Gandhi reacted to this allegation and presented the situation in a different way. Rahul Gandhi said that he was trying to enter the Parliament, but BJP MPs tried to stop him and pushed him. Rahul Gandhi said, “Everything will be captured on camera. I was trying to enter the House. Meanwhile, BJP MPs pushed and threatened me. Kharge ji was also pushed.” He also said, “Nothing happens to us by pushing and shoving. We were going inside the Parliament. BJP MPs cannot stop us from entering the Parliament.” Continuing his talk, Rahul Gandhi said, “It is my right to go to the Parliament. No one can stop me. I wanted to go inside the Parliament, but I was stopped. BJP MPs were constantly trying to stop me. They were trying to stop me at the entrance.” In this statement, he indicated that the action taken by the BJP MPs is a violation of the rights of the Parliament and cannot be seen in a democratic way. According to Rahul Gandhi, all this was part of an attempt to crush their democratic rights. Congress party MPs termed this behavior of the BJP as an attack on the Constitution and an attempt to destroy the memory of BR Ambedkar. Rahul Gandhi also said that his party will not allow such attempts to succeed and the rights of the Constitution will be defended at all costs. Congress leaders said that this attempt of the BJP is an insult to democratic institutions and they are standing against it.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi was also asked whether she was also pushed, she clearly refused to give any kind of reaction to this and said that she did not want to get into this controversy and she kept quiet to avoid commenting on it.
This incident took place in the Parliament House complex when the leaders of India Block were protesting against a comment made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in reference to Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The protesting leaders were demanding the resignation of Amit Shah. This protest was being done from the statue of Dr. Ambedkar to Makar Dwar. The purpose of this protest was to bring to the fore the issues arising regarding Ambedkar’s ideology and his contribution. The protesting leaders wanted the government to take strict steps in honor of Ambedkar and encourage his ideology.
During this incident, Congress leaders termed the behavior of BJP MPs as harmful for democracy and said that such incidents can adversely affect the dignity of Parliament and its functioning. Along with this, this incident has given rise to a new debate in political circles, which points to the increasing confrontation between the opposition and the ruling party within the Parliament. This controversy may deepen further in the coming days, as political tensions between the two major parties are increasing.
