The BJP is looking to repeat its performance in the last Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, Delhi, Haryana and Jharkhand in the sixth phase. 58 Lok Sabha seats of 8 states and Union Territories of the country are going to vote for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 25 i.e. Saturday. For the BJP, the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections is being considered important in many ways. BJP is engaged in the mission of forming the government for the third time in a row at the centre. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP did well in Bihar, Delhi, Haryana and Jharkhand, which it wants to repeat this time as well. On the other hand, in this election, efforts are being made to increase the number of seats in Odisha, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh compared to the previous elections.
If we talk about the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP won 40 of the 58 Lok Sabha seats in the sixth phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the subsequent by-election, the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat was also taken away by the BJP defeating the SP. This is how the BJP won 41 of these 58 Lok Sabha seats in the last Lok Sabha elections.
If we talk about the constituent parties of the NDA alliance, out of these 3 seats are with JDU, one seat with LJP and one seat with AJSU. Which means that 46 of these 58 Lok Sabha seats have NDA MPs.
4 seats in Jharkhand and 8 seats in Bihar are to be elected on May 25 i.e. Saturday, all these seats belong to the NDA alliance. The BJP single-handedly won all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and all 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi in the last Lok Sabha elections. In all these states BJP is trying hard to repeat its and NDA’s previous performance.
BJP’s mission in this Lok Sabha election is to win more than 400 seats, in which BJP wants to win 370 seats alone and 400 seats with NDA alliance partners. The party is eyeing states like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha to achieve its 400-par mission. BJP has put all its might to increase the number of seats in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha.
On Saturday, the 14 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh that are to be voted under the sixth phase, 10 of them were won by the BJP and 4 by the BSP. BJP wants to win these four Lok Sabha seats held by BSP this time.
Of the 8 seats up for election in West Bengal, 5 seats are held by the BJP and 3 seats by the Trinamool Congress. Of the 6 seats up for election in Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal has 4 seats and the BJP has 2.
This time BJP is claiming to increase its number of seats in West Bengal, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh. Anantnag Rajouri Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir will also go to polls on Saturday, May 25.
