New Delhi, January 16 (UITV)- The Congress party has released another list of its candidates on Wednesday in view of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. In this list, the party has announced the names of five more candidates. Among these candidates, Surendra Kumar has been nominated from Bawana, Sumesh Gupta from Rohini, Rahul Dhana from Karol Bagh, Virendra Bidhuri from Tughlakabad and Arjun Bhadana from Badarpur.
So far, the Congress party has announced the names of 68 candidates for the 70-member assembly elections. Earlier, a total of 63 candidates were named in four different lists. On Tuesday, the Congress released the fourth list of 15 candidates.
Voting for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in one phase on February 5. According to the Election Commission, a total of 1.55 crore voters will exercise their franchise in this election, including 83,49,645 men, 71,73,952 women and 1,261 third gender. The election results will be declared on February 8. With the announcement of the date of the upcoming elections in Delhi, the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ has come into force, under which government resources cannot be used for election campaign.
The Congress party released its list of candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections and fielded Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba from Kalkaji against Chief Minister Atishi. Earlier, on December 24, the party released the second list of 26 candidates and in early December also released the first list of 21 candidates, in which former MP Sandeep Dixit was made a candidate from New Delhi. Sandeep Dixit is in the fray against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.
The last day for filing nominations for the Delhi Assembly elections is Friday, so the Congress party may release the names of candidates for two more seats on Thursday. The party has been out of power in Delhi for almost 12 years and has failed to open its account in the last two elections. This time in the election, it is competing with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Aam Aadmi Party has been in power in Delhi for the last 10 years and has announced its candidates on all 70 seats. At the same time, another list is awaited to be released by the BJP.
The challenge for the Congress in this election is big, because it has faced defeat in the last two elections, but this time the party has entered the fray with full preparation and is trying to strengthen its position in the upcoming elections.
