New Delhi, January 13 (UITV) – Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Atishi launched her crowdfunding campaign on Sunday. This campaign was launched to contest elections from Kalkaji assembly constituency and she received an incredible response on the very first day. 336 people together donated a total of Rs 17 lakh 38 thousand 504 to her campaign, which has further boosted her confidence. After this funding, Atishi expressed her gratitude to her supporters and said on social media that she is overwhelmed by the response received in this campaign. She said that this great success reflects the unwavering faith of the people in the clean, honest and transformative politics of the Aam Aadmi Party.
AAP candidate Atishi wrote on social media platform X, “I am really overwhelmed by the incredible response my crowdfunding campaign received on the first day. More than 335 well-wishers have contributed more than 17 lakhs in this campaign. This huge success shows the unwavering faith of the people in the clean, honest and transformative politics of the Aam Aadmi Party.” Through this, he put forward the feeling of acceptance of the politics of the Aam Aadmi Party and the support of the people.
Aatishi released an online link on Sunday for the purpose of raising funds for her election campaign. She told that her party needs a total of Rs 40 lakh for election expenses. She said during the press conference that the Aam Aadmi Party has always contested elections through small donations, which helps the party to carry forward its politics of work and honesty. This campaign of hers is based on the principles of the party, which is in favor of winning elections with the support of the public.
Aatishi also said in a conversation with the media that the allegation by the BJP that the Delhi government’s canceled excise policy has led to a loss of Rs 2026 crore is completely baseless. She said that despite being in power for 10 years in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party has no case of corruption. They have always worked with honesty and their support for election campaign is always based on the support they get from Delhiites and the countrymen.
Atishi targeted the BJP and said, “Maybe the BJP has collected enough money through its friends and government contracts and now they do not need money to contest elections.” She also said that it is easy for a Chief Minister to collect money dishonestly, but the Aam Aadmi Party does not do so.
Atishi gave an example and said that if they had contested elections by taking money from contractors, the flyovers of Delhi would have collapsed within a few months. Also, without honesty they would not have been able to improve government schools and hospitals or provide free health services to the people of Delhi. She clarified that her party’s election campaign is based on the contribution of the public, not on corruption or money collected through dishonesty.
Atishi is contesting from Kalkaji assembly constituency this time, where she is pitted against former MP and BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri. In this election, she is trying to garner public support for her party’s politics. In December, senior AAP leader and party candidate from Jangpura Manish Sisodia also started crowdfunding for the election campaign and sought financial help from the people.
BJP is raising questions about the crowdfunding campaign of Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi assembly elections. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that Aam Aadmi Party, which has been contesting elections since 2013, is now participating in its ninth election. He said that the discussion being spread by AAP leaders about raising election funds through crowdfunding is surprising the people of Delhi. He alleged that questions are being raised whether the money raised through crowdfunding is related to the liquor scam, the remaining amount from Goa elections or the money being collected in Punjab.
Virendra Sachdeva said that BJP will soon request the Election Commission to confirm the sources of funds of candidates who raise funds through crowdfunding and present these details to the public before voting.
Voting for the 70 assembly seats of Delhi is scheduled to be held on February 5 and the election results will be declared on February 8. In this election, Aam Aadmi Party is trying to strongly reach its honest and working politics among the people and get public support.
