Flash floods in eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province have killed at least 35 people and injured 250 others. This information was given by a local official.
Qureshi Badlon is the provincial director of information and culture in Nangarhar. Based on the information provided by them, Xinhua news agency reported that the rain and flash flood disaster on Monday afternoon affected the provincial capital of Jalalabad, Sukh Road district and areas of the province bordering Pakistan.
Officials say the death toll from the disaster is likely to rise.
On Monday morning, a similar natural disaster struck the neighboring Kunar province of Nangarhar, killing five people.
Heavy rains and floods have killed more than 400 people in Afghanistan since May, while thousands have been left homeless.
