New Delhi, December 18 (UITV)- Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while responding to the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, called it an important document for nation building and welfare of the underprivileged. He said that for the Modi government, the Constitution is not just a written document, but it is the main source of inspiration for the upliftment of the underprivileged and the construction of the country. Describing the discussion on the Constitution as positive and inspiring, the Home Minister said that this discussion is extremely important especially for the young generation, as it will make them realize the progress of the country and the importance of the Constitution.
Amit Shah also said that after a long struggle for independence, our country got the Constitution and during the discussion on this Constitution, there was a deep discussion in the Parliament. He also said that this discussion has made it clear how deep the roots of democracy are in the country and it extends to the underworld. This discussion on the Constitution shows the strength of Indian democracy and the progress of the country.
The Home Minister described this discussion as an important opportunity for education for the youth of the country. He said that this debate will give the youth a chance to understand which party respected the Constitution and who violated it. He also recalled the contribution of Sardar Patel and said that it is because of his struggles that India stands strong today and this country is prospering in a democratic way. Amit Shah said, “It also became clear that when the public gave the mandate to a party, whether that party respected the Constitution or not.” He also told that the Indian people have democratically shattered the pride of dictators, which is the real strength of the country. Giving an example, the Home Minister said that this discussion on the Constitution proves that India today is a strong democracy and a country that preserves democratic values. Discussing the time of India’s independence, Amit Shah said that the world did not believe that India would be able to exist as an organized nation and establish constitutional values. However, when we look back after 75 years of independence, it is clear that it was the result of the tireless hard work and struggle of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that our country stands strong today. Praising Patel, he said that it is because of his contribution that India stands as an organized and strong nation today.
Amit Shah also told on this occasion that some people believed that India would never be able to become economically strong, but today in 75 years we stand with respect as the 5th largest economy in the world. He said that it is the result of the Constitution and the expectations of the people that we have reached this position today.
The Home Minister finally said that the Constitution of India is not just a legal document, but it is a living document to protect the democratic values of the country and the rights of the deprived. He praised the glory of the Constitution and said that it makes every Indian aware of his rights and duties.
