Shimla, November 13: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu celebrated the festival of Diwali by celebrating Diwali with children at Balika Ashram Tutikandi. During the celebration, the Chief Minister distributed sweets, fruits, and crackers to the children.
Expressing his good wishes towards the children, Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the positive impact of the recently implemented law and announced that orphans in the state will now be considered “children of the state”. He revealed that 4,000 orphan children have been issued eligibility certificates, entitling them to various benefits such as care, educational support, financial assistance for housing, clothing, and festival allowances till the age of 27 years.
The government’s commitment extends to enrolling these children in prestigious schools and ensuring their overall well-being. Additionally, children are being provided with three biswas of land and financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to build their own houses, ensuring a stable and secure future for them.

While addressing the children, Chief Minister Sukhu assured them that the state government considers itself as their mother and father. He stressed the government’s dedication to their welfare and encouraged children to face life’s challenges with courage, saying overcoming challenges boosts self-confidence and provides direction in life.
Looking ahead, Chief Minister Sukhu mentioned the government’s plan to formulate a scheme for single women and hearing-impaired children, underscoring the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and support for vulnerable groups.
