Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding cancellation of diplomatic passport of JDS MP Prajwal Revanna. At the same time, he has requested to take concrete action with immediate effect to ensure their return to India. After which the Ministry of External Affairs has become active and action is being taken in this regard. This information has been revealed by citing sources.
Earlier, the SIT probing the matter had also demanded the cancellation of Prajwal’s passport from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Prajwal Revanna is an accused in the sex scandal case. They are facing charges of rape and sexual harassment. He has fled the country. A red corner notice can also be issued after an arrest warrant is issued against them.
In his letter to PM Modi, Siddaramaiah said that it is deplorable that Prajwal Revanna fled to Germany on April 27, 2024 on a diplomatic passport after he came into limelight for his shameful act. In this case, his passport should be cancelled.
According to the information received from the sources, the Ministry of External Affairs has replied to CM Siddaramaiah’s letter.
The ministry said that action is being taken in this case and Prajwal Revanna will soon return home.
Prior to this, the home minister of Karnataka from the central government. Parameshwar also demanded cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport, but no response was given by the Centre. G. Parameshwar had said that the Center should take cognizance of this matter and speed up action.
However, this is not the first time that CM Siddaramaiah has written a letter to PM Modi. Earlier, he had written a letter to the Prime Minister in this matter on May 1. In which he demanded cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and expedited action to bring him back to India.
JD(S) MP from Hassan Prajwal Revanna left the country on his diplomatic passport and fled to Germany on April 27 after the sex scandal came to light. The SIT is investigating the case against Prajwal Revanna. Interpol has also issued a Blue Corner Notice against him. Several cases have been registered against 33-year-old Prajwal Revanna in the case of sexual abuse of women.
It is worth noting that Prajwal Revanna Hassan is contesting from the Lok Sabha seat, but he absconded abroad on April 27 after the polls were held here on April 26.
