Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Supreme Court in the CBI case of Delhi liquor scam case. A division bench of two judges Justice Surya Kant and Justice Bhuinya has granted bail to Kejriwal on a bond of Rs 10 lakh.

Justice Ujjal Bhuinya raised serious questions on the timing of Kejriwal’s arrest by the CBI and termed the “late arrest” by the central agency as unjustified. Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 and was sent to Tihar after 10 days of interrogation.
In his special leave petition filed in the Supreme Court, Aam Aadmi Party convenor Kejriwal had pressed for bail in the corruption case and also challenged his arrest and subsequent remand orders. CM Kejriwal was ordered to be released on interim bail by the Supreme Court on July 12 in the money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). But, he has not been able to come out of jail since he was arrested by the CBI.
