In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to maintain the spirit of humility and compassion in this festival.
On the social media platform ‘X’, Prime Minister Modi wished Ashadhi Ekadashi through a post and wrote, Best wishes for Ashadhi Ekadashi! Always bless us with the blessings of Lord Vitthal and inspire us to build a society that is full of happiness and prosperity. May this occasion also inspire humility, devotion and compassion in all of us. It should also inspire us to serve the poorer with diligence and utmost sincerity.
PM Modi has mentioned Bhagwan Vitthal in social media X post. Let us tell you that Lord Vitthal, Vithoba or Pandurang is a Hindu deity. They are mainly worshiped in Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Lord Vitthal is considered as a manifestation of Lord Vishnu or his avatar, Krishna.
On this special occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde performed Shree Vitthal Rukmini Mahapuja with his wife in the temple located in Pandharpur.
On this special occasion, farmer Balu Shankar Ahire (55 years) and his wife Ashabai Balu Ahire (50 years) also joined the Chief Minister as special guests. Ashadhi Ekadashi is celebrated on Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha. It is believed that it is Lord Vishnu’s sleeping period. According to Puranas, Lord Vishnu sleeps in Ksheer Sagar for four months from this day. Hence it is also called Harishyani Ekadashi. Chaturmas starts from this day.
