New Delhi, December 17 (UITV) – Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy has once again reiterated the idea of working 70 hours a week and appealed to the youth to work hard to contribute to the development of the country. Narayan Murthy first suggested this idea in the year 2023, which aimed to accelerate the economic and social development of the country. Although his statement was criticized by many people, especially health experts and doctors, some prominent personalities, such as Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, praised the idea.
Recently, at an event held in Kolkata, Narayan Murthy once again shared his thoughts and said that the young generation should understand that if the country has to be made number one globally, then they will have to work hard for it. Murthy also said that Indians need to strive for excellence so that the country can reach its full potential.
Narayana Murthy, while interacting with Sanjiv Goenka, Chairman, RPSG Group, at the centenary celebrations of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, said, “At Infosys, I had said that we will become the best and compare ourselves with the best global companies. Once we compare ourselves with global companies, I am sure Indians have the potential to do a lot.” Murthy’s statement was to inspire the Indian youth so that they not only fulfill their personal goals but also contribute to the development of the country.
Narayana Murthy also highlighted the responsibility of Indians for the development of the country. He said that if we do not keep our goals big, we cannot get out of poverty. He believed that even today 80 crore Indians are dependent on free ration, which indicates that this number reflects the deep problem of poverty. Murthy also raised the question that if we ourselves are not ready to work hard, then who else will?
He also said that he believes that a country can fight poverty only when it goes on the path of employment generation. According to Murthy, entrepreneurship is not the government’s function, rather it is the responsibility of entrepreneurs to create jobs and contribute to nation building. He believes that when entrepreneurs create employment opportunities and create wealth for their investors, they strengthen the country’s economy and also pay taxes, which ultimately helps in improving the country’s infrastructure.
Narayana Murthy said, “Entrepreneurs build the nation because they create employment opportunities, they create wealth for their investors and they pay taxes. If a country adopts capitalism, it will build good roads, trains and better infrastructure.” With this comment, Murthy made it clear that both entrepreneurship and capitalism are important for the progress of the nation, as they can bring growth and prosperity to the economy.
Murthy’s comment comes at a time when concerns are being raised about increasing stress at the workplace in India, due to which many employees face physical and mental problems. Many times, employees have even lost their lives due to such stressful situations. Murthy’s appeal to work hard is also being criticized because health experts believe that working long hours not only has a negative impact on the physical and mental health of employees, but can also have a serious impact on their personal and social life.
Health experts have warned that working long hours, especially without adequate rest, can lead to stress, depression and other mental health problems. It can also affect the relationships of employees, as they are unable to spend time with their family and friends due to work pressure. Apart from this, constant pressure on the body can also cause health problems, such as heart disease, high blood pressure and other serious diseases.
Considering Murthy’s advice and its consequences in this situation, it is important that we also pay attention to measures to reduce stress at the workplace. Also, ensure that employees get a balanced work life so that their mental and physical health remains good and they can contribute to nation building in the right way.
Narayana Murthy’s idea is based on the need for hard work to contribute to the development of the country, but it is also important that balance at the workplace and well-being of employees should be given priority so that the health and lifestyle of employees are not negatively affected in the path of development.
