In a significant political development, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu has been unanimously elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Andhra Pradesh. The decision was made on Tuesday during an NDA meeting held at a convention centre in Vijayawada. Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan proposed Naidu’s name as the chief ministerial candidate, a move that was seconded by BJP State President D Purandeswari.
Following his nomination, Naidu affirmed that Amaravati would remain the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh, while the NDA government would focus on the development of Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.
Unanimous Support for Naidu
A resolution electing Naidu as the leader was unanimously passed by all MLAs from the three alliance partners. This resolution will be sent to Governor Justice Abdul Nazeer, expressing their intent to form the government. The governor has formally invited the NDA to form the government, and a notification has been issued. Naidu is set to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday. The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other NDA leaders.
Emphasis on Experience and Vision
Before proposing Naidu’s name, Pawan Kalyan emphasized the need for Naidu’s experience and vision in Andhra Pradesh. He highlighted that the people had rejected the previous anarchic and dictatorial government, giving the NDA a substantial mandate. Kalyan praised Naidu for his steadfast commitment to the people’s cause despite facing numerous challenges. He recounted his meeting with Naidu in Rajahmundry Central Jail during Naidu’s arrest in an alleged skill development scam, which stirred strong emotions among the attendees.
Alliance Exemplifies Political Unity
BJP State President D Purandeswari, who seconded Kalyan’s proposal, lauded the coordinated efforts of the three parties. She noted that the alliance in Andhra Pradesh serves as an exemplary model for political unity across the country. Purandeswari assured that the BJP is dedicated to the state’s development and will extend full support from the union government.
Naidu’s Gratitude and Vision
In his speech, Naidu expressed gratitude to Pawan Kalyan, Purandeswari, Modi, and the elected members. He remarked that, despite his extensive electoral experience, this particular victory was special due to the overwhelming mandate from the people. Naidu credited the coordination between the three parties’ workers for this unprecedented victory. He stressed that the people have rejected arrogant rulers and advised the elected members to remain humble and grounded.
Naidu’s return as Chief Minister marks a new chapter for Andhra Pradesh, with a focus on unity, development, and responsive governance.
