Om Birla is the current Speaker of the Lok Sabha and after the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Om Birla is going to become the Speaker of the Lok Sabha again. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced Om Birla as its candidate for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker. Om Birla will file nomination for this on Tuesday (June 25, 2024).
In a fast-paced political development, the ruling BJP on Tuesday held discussions with its allies and finalized the name of the new Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju held talks with opposition parties on behalf of the government to reach a consensus on the post of Speaker.
At the same time, the current Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla met Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the proceedings of the Lok Sabha began. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office at Parliament House.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a high-level meeting in his office with Om Birla, JP Nadda and Amit Shah.
It is being told that the constituent parties of the NDA will meet to complete the formal process of filling the nomination papers for the new Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
However, the government is still in talks with the opposition parties over the post of Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Meanwhile, the meeting of NDA leaders has started for the formal process of filing the nomination papers of the candidate for the new Speaker of the Lok Sabha in the tenure of Rajnath Singh at Sansad Bhawan. Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Rajeev Ranjan Singh aka Lalan Singh, Anupriya Patel, HD Kumaraswamy and many other allied party leaders also participated in this meeting.
