New Delhi, November 19 (UITV)- Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. Many senior leaders of the party including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached ‘Shakti Sthal’ in Delhi on her birth anniversary today and paid tribute to her.
Many leaders and workers including Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. The whole country paid tribute to her contribution and courageous leadership on the occasion of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary on November 19.
Prime Minister Modi, who is currently on a visit to Brazil, paid tribute to Indira Gandhi through social media platform X, writing, “Tribute to our former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi ji on her birth anniversary.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute on social media platform X, writing, “Tribute to former Prime Minister of India Smt. Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary.” Congress party and other leaders also paid their tribute to her through social media.
Congress leaders remembered Indira Gandhi’s contribution and her dedication to the country and saluted her.
Paying tribute to Indira Gandhi, the Congress party wrote, “A synonym for courage, strength, dedication and resolve, salutes India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary. Her leadership took India to new heights and broke barriers.”
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called her the ‘Iron Lady of India’ and talked about taking inspiration from her life. He wrote, “Indira Gandhi selflessly contributed to nation building and sacrificed her life to protect the unity and integrity of India.”
Many leaders and workers including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached Indira Gandhi’s Samadhi Sthal ‘Shakti Sthal’ to pay tribute to her. They bowed down and expressed their respect to the former Prime Minister.
Rahul Gandhi remembered his grandmother Indira Gandhi on social media by sharing some childhood pictures with her. He wrote in the post, “Grandmother was an example of both courage and love. From her, I learned that the real strength is to fearlessly walk on the path of national interest. Her memories are my strength, which always show me the way.”
Through this emotional post, Rahul Gandhi expressed deep respect for his grandmother and shared the inspiration he got from her life.
Born on 19 November 1917 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamala Nehru, Indira Gandhi’s life was a symbol of courage, perseverance and devotion to duty. She was the Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977 and then from January 1980 to October 1984. She was the second longest-serving Prime Minister of India after Jawaharlal Nehru. Under her leadership, India saw many historic changes, including the independence of Bangladesh, the Green Revolution and nuclear tests.
Many of Indira Gandhi’s decisions as Prime Minister were historic, but some were also controversial. Imposing emergency in 1975 is considered the most controversial decision of her leadership, due to which she also lost power. Ordering Operation Blue Star in the Golden Temple of Amritsar in June 1984 was another controversial decision of her politics. As a result, she was assassinated by her own bodyguards on 31 October 1984.
Indira Gandhi’s life is a symbol of courage, strength and sacrifice. Her contributions gave a new direction to India and established her as the ‘Iron Lady’ of the country. Remembering her on her birth anniversary is an occasion to pay tribute to her inspirational leadership and patriotism.
