People in Tamil Nadu are facing problems due to heavy rains. People faced heavy rain in southern and western parts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. 10 teams of SDRF have been deployed by the state government to deal with any situation. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in southern and western areas for the next three days.
Many areas have been flooded due to heavy rains. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local people are conducting rescue operations in low-lying areas to evacuate people to safer places.
The IMD has warned people not to go to beach areas.
The inflow of tourists has been affected by the continuous heavy rains in the area.
The Tamil Nadu Disaster Department has issued travel alerts in Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Nilgiris and Theni districts.
In these districts, 2.44 crore mobile phones have been sent SMS alerts about rain warnings through Common Alert Protocol.
At present, tourists are advised not to visit these places due to the forecast of heavy rains. Very heavy rain is likely to continue in these areas for the next three days.
The Tamil Nadu Revenue Department has deployed 10 teams of SDRF in Kanyakumari, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Nilgiris districts. A total of 296 personnel are included in the 10 teams of SDRF deployed in these areas.
