New Delhi, January 29 (UITV)- A huge stampede broke out during the Amrit Snan on the day of Mauni Amavasya in the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, in which about 30 women were reported injured and many people have also died. This accident happened at Sangam Ghat around 1 to 2 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep condolences on this accident and expressed his sympathy to the families of the deceased. He wished the injured a speedy recovery and called upon the local administration to provide all possible help to the victims.
Prime Minister Modi said in a post after this incident that he has spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about this accident and he is constantly in touch with the state government. PM Modi told that he has spoken to CM Yogi four times so far and has given instructions to normalize the situation and provide relief.
A huge crowd of devotees gathered at Sangam Ghat on the day of Mauni Amavasya bath of Mahakumbh, who were eager to take a dip in the Triveni Sangam. Due to this, the pressure on the ghat started increasing and there was chaos. There were also reports of Naga sadhus arriving at the spot, due to which the crowd at Sangam Ghat increased further. During this, a stampede broke out and people climbed over each other, leading to this tragic incident.
Meanwhile, the government appealed to the saints to return to the camps so that the situation could be controlled. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, after this accident, described the situation under control and said that the accident happened due to heavy crowd and crossing the barricades. He appealed to the devotees to follow the instructions of the administration and avoid rumors.
CM Yogi said that about 9 to 10 crore devotees have reached Prayagraj in the Maha Kumbh and the priority of the administration is that all the devotees can bathe safely. He specifically denied the need to bathe at Sangam Nose and said that the devotees should bathe at the ghat where they are. It is not necessary to bathe at Sangam Nose, so people should avoid going there.
The gathering of lakhs of devotees in a big religious event like Maha Kumbh naturally causes crowd, but such accidents often occur due to sudden events and carelessness of the administration. After this accident, the administration has taken more stringent steps, so that such incidents can be avoided in future.
Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath together understood the seriousness of the situation and accelerated the relief work. Local police and administration officials took immediate action in the relief work and the injured persons were admitted to nearby hospitals. Along with this, the administration has increased many security measures to keep the devotees safe during the Maha Kumbh, so that any such unexpected incident can be avoided in future.
This accident is definitely a sad turn in the organization of Maha Kumbh, but the efforts of the administration and the government are expected to handle the situation soon. From such incidents, we need to understand that during big religious events, it is very important to take special care of the safety and arrangements of the devotees.
