On May 15, 71-year-old Juraj Cintula fired five bullets at Slovak PM Robert Fico, one of which hit him in the stomach. He was immediately airlifted to a hospital in Banska Bystrica and underwent surgery.

According to local media, now his life is being told out of danger. His surgery lasted for three and a half hours.
According to information received from Slovak Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok, the attack was an attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Robert Fico and the attack is believed to be politically motivated.
Matus Sutaj Estok said that the attempt to kill PM Robert Fico was motivated by politics. He says that he has been attacked due to hateful posts being spread on social media.
Robert Fico has been Prime Minister of Slovakia four times. They were injured in the attack on them in Handlowa. When the PM came out to meet the people, many bullets were fired at him.
The alleged shooter was arrested on the spot and the scene was evacuated. The world is condemning the attack on Slovak PM Robert Fico and wishing him a speedy recovery. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Russian President Vladimir Putin, US President Joe Biden, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres have also strongly condemned this attack.
