New Delhi, January 24 (UITV)- Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may start the election campaign in Delhi from January 26 in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. A senior leader associated with the Congress campaign management has expressed the possibility that Priyanka Gandhi may address her first rally in North-East Delhi on the evening of January 26. This rally can prove to be important in deciding the direction of the election campaign for the Congress.
During the election campaign in Delhi, all the Congress candidates have urged the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) to have Priyanka Gandhi campaign in their constituencies. However, Priyanka Gandhi will campaign only in important assembly constituencies, as decided by the senior leaders of the party.
In this election campaign, the Congress has made five major promises to the people of Delhi. The first of these is that women will be given Rs 2,500 per month under the “Pyaari Didi Yojana”. The second promise is a lifetime health insurance of Rs 25 lakh for all the residents of Delhi. Apart from this, educated unemployed youth will be given a stipend of Rs 8,500 per month for up to a year to develop their employment skills. The party has also promised subsidized cooking gas for Rs 500, free ration kit and 300 units of free electricity. Congress has tried to attract the people of Delhi through these promises.
Congress is trying to make a comeback in Delhi, especially in the last two assembly elections when the party did not get a single seat. Congress lost its presence in Delhi with zero seats in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. Now the party is trying to make a strong comeback in these elections and succeed in bringing the voters of Delhi to its side.
At the same time, there have been some difficulties in the election campaign of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi canceled his rally in Mustafabad in North-East Delhi, raising doubts about his availability for campaigning. Rahul Gandhi was recently unable to attend some programs due to ill health, including his proposed program in Delhi assembly constituency. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was to address a rally at Indralok Metro Station in Sadar Bazar constituency, but due to his ill health, he could not participate in the rally.
Rahul Gandhi held his first rally in Seelampur on January 13, after which many questions were raised about his health. Now it remains to be seen how much success the Congress gets from the election campaign of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and whether the party is able to regain its lost strength in the electoral field of Delhi or not.
