Two buses carrying around 63 passengers were swept into the Trishuli River in Nepal today, Friday morning due to a landslide. 63 passengers on board the buses are missing, for which rescue and search operations are on. This information is shared by Road Division Office Bharatpur Nepal. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed grief over this major accident. The rescue operation is getting hampered due to incessant rains. It is raining heavily these days in Nepal.
According to the information provided by the police, Angel Bus and Ganpati Deluxe Bus were going to Kathmandu, carrying 24 and 41 people respectively. However, three passengers in Ganpati Deluxe managed to jump off the bus before it plunged into the river. The accident happened around 3:30 am.
The Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal has expressed grief over this accident. The Prime Minister posted on social media platform X that about five dozen passengers have gone missing due to landslides on the Narayangarh-Muglin road section and about five dozen passengers have gone missing due to landslides and floods in many parts of the country. I am very saddened by the loss of property. I direct the Home Administration and all the agencies of the Government to search for the passengers as soon as possible and initiate effective rescue operations.
