ProCam International is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our participant Ashish Kumar Garg, who was running in the 10K event. Ashish died on Sunday, October 15, 2023, when he collapsed just 50 meters from the finish line.
Our event medical partner, Metro Hospitals, ensured that all necessary medical protocols were followed, and the medical team at the track immediately took care of Ashish. He was found unresponsive and without a pulse, whereby CPR was initiated as per established protocol. Subsequently, he was shifted to the ICU at the Medical Base Camp, a fully equipped facility with over 50 medical beds and a specialized team of doctors and medical personnel.
Once stabilised, Ashish was taken to the nearest hospital, Moolchand Hospital, for continued treatment. Despite the tireless efforts of the medical professionals, on reaching Moolchand Hospital he experienced another cardiac arrest and unfortunately, could not be saved.
Commenting on the situation, Co-Medical Directors of the event, Dr. Sameer Gupta and Dr. Sonia Lal Gupta said, “Ashish Garg collapsed just short of the finish line of the 10 km race and was immediately attended to by the medical team. of.” Present on the track. Initial CPR was initiated, and he was then transferred to Basecamp, where he received cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including DC shocks, according to ACLS protocols. When stabilised, he was sent to the nearest hospital (Moolchand Hospital), where, on arrival, he suffered another cardiac arrest and, unfortunately, could not be saved.”
