New Delhi, November 7: A 14-year-old girl from India has done wonders in powerlifting and won a new world record in powerlifting at the WIWPC World Championship held in Manchester, UK. Ishti Kaur, 14, from Delhi, is a class 10 student at GD Goenka School. In the teenage category, Ishti Kaur participated in the 44 kg weight category and managed to make a record in this category by pulling a 95 kg deadlift.
The World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) World Championships were held in Manchester from 31 October to 5 November. In which a total of 20 countries including India participated and about 600 players took part in this championship. 10 players participated in this event from India.

Ishti Kaur, who made the world record in Manchester, was trained by her father Daljit Singh. Daljeet Singh (45) has also been a world champion in powerlifting several times. Regarding training and diet, Ishti said that she has a disciplined diet every day and trains for an hour under the guidance of her father.
Her achievement in the field of powerlifting proved the adage that weight and strength training are not safe for girls. His achievement has also made his teachers and classmates proud.
There are three main lifts in powerlifting – the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Each participant gets three attempts to lift the weight in each lift. The final numbers of each lift are complied with. The one who records the heaviest lift gets first place, the one who registers the second heaviest lift gets second place and the third heaviest lift gets third place.
