Oct 07 – India made history by securing an impressive tally of 100 medals at the 2023 Asian Games in China, marking the first time that India has achieved this milestone in the games. Indian athletes had a remarkable day with the prospect of more medals on the horizon. India had a cricket gold match scheduled, along with wrestling matches. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian athletes for their historic performance.

India began the day on a positive note, with Jyothi Surekha Vennam securing the gold medal in women’s compound archery at the 19th Asian Games. Aditi Gopichand Swami, another Indian archer, delivered an exceptional performance, earning a bronze medal in the women’s compound archery individual event. Additionally, the Indian women’s kabaddi team clinched the gold medal, contributing to India’s gold count of 25 and the overall medal tally of 100. In the gold medal match at the Asian Games 2023, the Indian women’s kabaddi team took a 14-9 lead against Chinese Taipei. Notably, these two teams had played to a 34-34 tie in their campaign opener in Hangzhou. The Indian raiders scored six bonus points in the first half.
Furthermore, the men’s kabaddi final featured a clash between India and the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, scheduled for 12:30 PM IST. India currently holds the fourth position in the medal tally with a total of 100 medals.
