Anil kadsur, a revered cyclist who served as a beacon of inspiration for countless enthusiasts in the city and beyond, passed away due to a heart attack on Friday morning.
The 45-year-old fitness trainer, renowned for his daily 100km cycling regimen, had recently celebrated a remarkable achievement on January 31. He proudly announced on social media that he had completed an astounding 42 consecutive months of century rides, totaling an impressive 1,250 century rides. Unfortunately, the same night, he was hospitalized after experiencing discomfort.
Kadsur’s remarkable milestones over the past few years had a profound impact on the cycling community. Individual cyclists eagerly awaited the opportunity to meet and greet him, as shaking hands with Kadsur felt like drawing energy and positive vibes. With over a decade of cycling experience, he had covered a mind-boggling distance of over 225,000km, setting a standard that motivated cyclists to push their limits.
As one of the pioneering lifestyle cyclists in Bengaluru, Kadsur stood out not only for his cycling prowess but also for his humble and approachable nature. He willingly interacted with newcomers, offering valuable tips and tricks to transform them into dedicated cyclists. Whether through direct interactions or indirectly through his activity app, Kadsur served as a mentor, akin to Dronacharya, inspiring countless Ekalavyas in the community.
Kadsur owned a fleet of six fixed-gear cycles, popularizing the fixed-gear cycling trend through his rides. His claim to fame was his daily routine of covering 100km, a practice he began in August 2022. What started as a challenge from a cycling club to ride 100km on 10 consecutive days turned into a lifestyle for Kadsur. His dedication and discipline were unparalleled; waking up at 2:30 am, hitting the saddle by 3 am, covering 100km between training sessions in south Bengaluru, and returning home by 7 pm. This clock-like precision in his routine became a blueprint for thousands of aspiring cyclists.
In a conversation with TOI last April, during his 1000th century ride, Kadsur expressed his commitment to continuing these rides as part of his lifestyle. When asked about the prospect of getting his achievements into record books to inspire future generations, he responded with a humble smile, always letting his cycling prowess speak for itself.
