In a recent IPL 2025 match, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a remarkable performance by scoring 101 runs off just 38 balls for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans. This feat made him the youngest centurion in IPL history and the second-fastest to reach a century in the tournament, trailing only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013.
Following the match, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill referred to Suryavanshi’s innings as a “lucky day,” stating, “It was his day. His hitting was just tremendous, and he made full use of his day.”
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja criticized Gill’s remark, emphasizing the need to acknowledge the teenager’s talent and mindset. Jadeja highlighted Suryavanshi’s self-belief and composure, stating, “A 14-year-old to believe in himself, the amount that he believes in himself, and to take it that far… that’s not giving enough credit.”
Suryavanshi’s innings included 11 sixes and a significant partnership of 166 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal, leading the Royals to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.
The young cricketer’s performance has garnered widespread acclaim, with cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh praising his fearless and mature approach to the game.
