The T20 World Cup being played in the West Indies and the US, the pitch at New York’s Nassau County International Cricket Stadium was reported by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as not up to standard. Also the ICC promised that it will be improved for the remaining matches of the T20 World Cup.
Runs are not being made on the pitch of New York Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. So far, two matches have been played here, in which the team batting first has not even been able to touch the 100-run mark. The swing and unusual bounce on the pitch is troubling the batsmen. The teams playing in the second innings have also been troubled by extra bounce and extra swing.
The pitch was questioned by former cricketers around the world, after which the International Cricket Council admitted that the pitch was not up to standards.
The first match of the T20 World Cup between Sri Lanka and South Africa was played on this ground, in which the Sri Lankan team managed to score only 77 runs, while South Africa achieved this target with the loss of four wickets in 16 overs.
The second match was played between India and Ireland, in which India bowled out Ireland for 96 runs and India achieved this target in 12.2 overs with the loss of two wickets.
The match between India and Pakistan is going to be played on this ground on June 9. Looking at the condition of this pitch, it is expected that the pitch will play a major role in the outcome of the match.
Ahead of this big match, a statement has been issued by the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which it has been said that we believe that the pitch at this stadium did not play up to our expectations. Since the end of the last match, the world-class ground team has been working hard to provide a better pitch for the remaining matches.
