India has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings following a resounding 4-1 series victory over England. With 122 rating points, India has surged ahead, displacing Australia, who now sit in second place with 117 rating points. England follows closely behind in third position with 111 rating points.
The decisive victory came in the fifth and final Test held in Dharamsala, where India triumphed by an innings and 64 runs. This victory not only sealed the series win but also propelled India back to the summit of Test cricket.
Despite a setback in the first Test in Hyderabad, where they lost by 28 runs, India staged a remarkable comeback, securing wins in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala. These victories showcased India’s dominance and determination, allowing them to reclaim the top spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings.
India had briefly slipped to second place earlier in the year after a drawn series against South Africa in January. However, their impressive performance against England has catapulted them back to the pinnacle of Test cricket.
Notably, India’s ascendancy extends beyond Test cricket, as they currently lead the rankings in all three formats. In ODI rankings, they hold 121 rating points, closely trailed by Australia with 118 rating points. Similarly, in T20Is, India boasts 266 rating points, with England following closely behind with 256 rating points.
With their recent successes, India reaffirms its status as a dominant force across all formats of international cricket.
