Jasprit Bumrah has reached the top spot in the ICC men’s Test bowling rankings, becoming the first Indian fast bowler to do so. In the Visakhapatnam Test, India’s fast bowling leader Jasprit Bumrah took a total of nine wickets in both the innings against England and has created history by securing the number-1 position in the latest ICC rankings. This is the first time that an Indian fast bowler has achieved the number-1 position in the ICC Test rankings.
In the second test, India defeated England by 106 runs due to the excellent bowling of Jasprit Bumrah, double century of Yashasvi Jaiswal and century of Shubman Gill.
In the Visakhapatnam Test, Jasprit Bumrah performed brilliantly against England in his first innings, taking 6 wickets for 45 runs and taking 3 wickets in the second innings, taking a total of nine wickets in the second Test. His excellent performance has helped him overtake Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada and compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin. Before Bumrah, India’s Bishan Singh Bedi, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have secured the number one position in the rankings of Test bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah is the fourth bowler from his country to achieve this feat.
India made a comeback in the series by defeating England by 106 runs in the second Test and after leveling the five-match series at 1-1, Bumrah was named player of the match. India also took a huge leap and secured the number 2 position in the World Test Championship points table.
Bumrah ended the long reign of compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin, who had been at the top for 11 months, and staked his claim to that place. With 881 rating points, Bumrah is at number-1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings.
In the Visakhapatnam Test against England, Jasprit Bumrah took a total of 9 wickets, due to which he got a lot of benefit, while on the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin took only three wickets, hence he slipped to second place in the ranking of bowlers.
In the first innings of the Visakhapatnam Test, left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played his career-best innings of 209 runs so far, due to which he has reached 29th position in the batting rankings. He has climbed 37 places, while right-handed batsman Shubman Gill has climbed 14 places to reach a career-best 38th ranking.
