Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has candidly addressed his exclusion from India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad, admitting that he initially found it challenging to come to terms with the decision. Speaking at a post-match presentation during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Siraj revealed, “At one time, I was not able to digest it (having not been picked for Champions Trophy) but I kept my spirits up and worked on my fitness and game.”
Despite the setback, Siraj channeled his focus towards the IPL, where he has been delivering standout performances for the Gujarat Titans. In a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he achieved impressive figures of 4/17, contributing significantly to his team’s seven-wicket victory. Reflecting on his journey, Siraj emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and concentrating on aspects within his control. He stated, “As a professional, when you are consistently with the Indian team, a doubt grows in your mind (on being dropped), but I cheered myself up and was looking forward to the IPL.”
Siraj’s resilience and dedication have been evident in his recent performances, underscoring his determination to make a compelling case for his return to the national squad. His ability to overcome the disappointment of the Champions Trophy snub and excel in the IPL highlights his commitment to continuous improvement and contribution to the sport.
