Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) spinner Shadab Jakati has raised significant concerns about the team’s internal dynamics ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Jakati, who was part of the RCB squad in 2014, attributed the franchise’s lack of IPL titles to an over-reliance on a few star players and a lack of team unity.
Jakati emphasized the importance of a cohesive team effort in achieving championship success, stating that focusing on just 2-3 players is insufficient to secure a trophy. He highlighted that during his tenure with RCB, the management’s emphasis on a select few players hindered the team’s overall performance.
Drawing a comparison with his experience at Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he was part of the 2010 and 2011 IPL-winning teams, Jakati noted a stark difference in team management and dressing room atmosphere. He praised CSK’s management for fostering a strong group of Indian players complemented by effective foreign recruits, leading to a well-balanced and successful team.
Jakati further elaborated on the contrasting environments, mentioning that while RCB had talented players, there was a noticeable lack of camaraderie and cohesion among them. He credited CSK’s management for their player-centric approach, which he believes played a crucial role in their success.
These revelations come as RCB prepares for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, aiming to secure their first championship title. The allegations have sparked discussions about the importance of team unity and effective management in achieving success in the highly competitive IPL environment.
