Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is confident of playing every match in IPL 2024, said Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting. But he said that it has not been decided yet whether Pant will play only as wicketkeeper, batsman or will also captain the team.
26-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant met with a car accident on December 30, 2022, while on his way to his hometown Roorkee.
He also had to undergo surgery due to this car accident. Since then he has not played any match. Currently, he is undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Pant is making good progress in his recovery. If he becomes fit for IPL 2024, there is a good chance that he can make a comeback in competitive cricket.
Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting said that Rishabh is confident that he is ready to return. However, we are not completely sure about his role in the team yet.
But I know that if I ask him, he will say that he is ready to play every match and will also say that I am ready for wicket-keeping and batting at number four.
Ricky Ponting said that if Rishabh Pant plays as many matches as possible in IPL 2024, it will be beneficial for Delhi Capitals.
IPL 2024 is likely to start from the last week of March. Last season, Delhi Capitals finished ninth and this time there is hope and eagerness for a better performance.
