In the Women’s Premier League 2024 final, RCB’s team was playing in the final for the first time in the tournament. Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2024 final and the openers also gave a bang during the powerplay. Early on, it looked like Delhi Capitals would set a big target on the scoreboard.
Delhi captain Meg Lanning and Shefali Verma took the team to 61 runs in just 6 overs. Young Indian opener Shefali Verma thrashed every bowler in Bangalore. But the team could not sustain its explosive start and the team lost 7 wickets for just 23 runs.
3 wickets of Delhi Capitals fell in a single over, which put the team on the back foot. After this, RCB gave Delhi no chance to recover, RCB’s off-spinner Shreyanka Patil took the most 4 wickets, Sophie Molyneux took 3 wickets and leg-spinner Asha Shobhana took 2 wickets. Shaifali Verma scored 44 runs and Meg Lanning scored 23 runs for Delhi, thanks to which RCB got a target of 114 runs. For RCB, Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana chased the target and gave the team a good start. Sophie Devine scored 32 runs and Smriti Mandhana played an innings of 31 runs.
