This unprecedented feat surpasses the previous records set by Sri Lanka in 1996 and Australia in 2003, both of whom had achieved eight wins in the round-robin stage.
Following their victory in the Asia Cup, India continued their dominance in the World Cup, starting with a stunning win over Australia. The team’s remarkable journey has now established them as the top-performing team in the round-robin stage.
The next challenge for India is the semi-final match against New Zealand to be held in Pune on Wednesday. New Zealand faced some uncertainty over qualifying for the semi-finals after losing four consecutive games after an initial unbeaten start.
