SYDNEY, August 21 – In the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, Spain won the title for the first time after defeating England 1-0 in the final. The final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 was played at the Sydney Stadium where Spain won and became the champion. Olga Carmon scored in the 29th minute of the first half to take a 1-0 lead. No one could score a goal from England and eventually Spain reached the final.
A semi-final match was played between Spain and Sweden, in which Olga Carmon scored a goal in the 89th minute to help Spain win the semi-finals and Spain defeated Sweden 2–1 to enter the final.
Spain’s players revolted last year over being sidelined from the national team for the betterment of their mental health. So that they can get a more professional environment to play in. The 15 players of the team in this rebellion are Patri Guizarro, Aitana Bonmati, Mapy Leon, Mariana Caldanti, Sandra Panos, Claudia Pina, Lola Gallardo, Ainhoa Moraza, Neria Izaguirre, Amaiuar Sarrigi, Lucia Garcia, Oana Battle, Leila Ouahabi, Lia Alexandra and Andrea Pereira was involved. Later 3 players Ona Battle Pascual, Aitana Bonmati Conca, and Maria Francesca Caldenti Oliver joined the team. This Spain team has done a commendable job by winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in less than a year since the rebellion.
Spain has become the second country after Germany to hold both the men’s and women’s world titles.
